W Planet Hunters uczestniczę praktycznie od samego początku trwania projektu, gdzieś do końca lutego udało mi się sklasyfikować trochę ponad 2000 krzywych zmian blasku. Od tamtego czasu miałam długą przerwę od klasyfikacji i trochę zapomniałam o całym projekcie, dlatego ze zdziwieniem i zaskoczeniem przeczytałam maila, którego dzisiaj otrzymałam, a którego wklejam poniżej:

Apologies for sending a message out of the blue. I’m Meg Schwamb, a member of the Planet Hunters science team. We’re delighted with the way the project has been going over the past 6 months, and we thank you for your help and time classifying stars.
The science team has been hard at work sorting through all of your classifications. We have been actively following up our top 10 transit candidates with observations from the Keck telescopes to try and confirm the presence of an orbiting exoplanet and rule out the possibility of astrophysical false positives that mimic transit signals.
Some of our top 10 have been confirmed as being due to false positives such as eclipsing binaries. A few, on the other hand, have survived our vetting process and are considered to be bona fide planet candidates. These stars likely harbor a transiting exoplanet, but at this time, we are unable to directly confirm the presence of a planet with radial velocity measurements. This work is still ongoing for the very brightest on our list.
I am emailing today because you were one of the Planet Hunters to flag a transit in one of the 10 stars discussed in the paper. Congratulations. Although not the first person to identify the star, we’d like to include your name prominently in the paper in the acknowledgments section. If you agree, can you please email me your full name as you would like it to appear in the paper as soon as possible. We hope to submit the paper in the next several days. If you’d like to not be mentioned, that’s perfectly okay too. Thanks again for the time and effort you put into the site.

Serdeczne gratulacje! Bez względu na to, czy obiekt okaże się exoplanetą, czy też „zwyczajną” gwiazdą zaćmieniową, sam fakt uczestniczenia w projekcie, który „zahacza” o teleskopy Kecka jest już wielką sprawą.
